1. Gymnasia
All gymnasia’s primary purpose is to be used for physical training courses and sport club activities of UD students and staff.
A) Chodská Gymnasium
It is a general purpose hall with an auditorium, used for the basic physical training courses and gymnastics (including trampoline) as well as for the following:
- wrestling sports on a tatami
- volleyball, basketball or foot tennis (one court)
- floorball on a small ground using original boards
- tennis (one court)
- table tennis (five or less tables)
B) Staňkova Gymnasium
It is the largest sport hall in UD possession with the area fitting a handball ground. Besides the essential PT and gymnastics equipment, it is suitable for the following sports:
- futsal
- volleyball, basketball or foot tennis on three parallel courts
- floorball using original boards
- tennis (one court).
Climbing wall
The hall comprises a 10.5-metre high artificial climbing wall used for mountaineering training and practice.
C) Pisárky gymnasium
It is a typical physical exercise hall furnished with the basic gymnastics equipment (including a trampoline). Aside from that it is used for the following:
- volleyball, basketball or foot tennis (one court)
- small ground floorball without original board
- tennis (one court).
D) Černá Pole Gymnasium
Located in the barracks in Cerna Pole (a part of Brno), it is a typical school gymnasium intended for classes.
2. Sports grounds
Chodská grounds
The grounds comprise the following:
- a running track of 300m long lap
- a football field
- a military pentathlon event – dummy grenade precision throwing
- an obstacle course for joint check-up exercise (abbreviated SKC) and some of military pentathlon obstacles
Pisárky grounds
The 400-metre oval track encircles a standard size grass-covered field. There is a practice ground of approximately 80x50 metres area next to the stadium. The grounds include an obstacle course for SKC, outdoor muscle conditioning equipment and a clay court for volleyball or foot tennis.
3. Swimming pool
The 25-metre long pool with six lanes is used for military training and for military pentathlon events practice – obstacle swimming. Its free capacity is used by UD staff and students for fitness swimming. Pool season starts usually in May and closes in September.
4. Beach volleyball field
Usually in operation from May till September.
5. Fitness room
Placed in the Physical Training and Sports Centre building, number 27 in Dobrovskeho facility, it is equipped with the following:
- bodybuilding machines
- spinning bikes
- rowing machines
- running belts
- one- and two-hand weight sets
- steps and others.

Wednesdays 07.30-13.00; 18.00-21.45
Thursdays 07.30-13.00; 18.00-21.45
Fridays 07.30-13.00; 14.00-17.45
The fitness room is accessible for UD entrance card holders. The duty officer may restrict entrance if the facility capacity is full.
6. Sauna
It is placed in the Physical Training and Sports Centre building, number 27. Sauna capacity is eight persons at a time.
Open:
Mondays men 09.00-13.00; 14.00-20.00
Tuesdays ladies 09.00-13.00; 14.00-20.00
Wednesdays men 09.00-13.00; 14.00-20.00
Thursdays ladies 09.00-13.00; 14.00-20.00
Sauna may be used within the opening hours upon reservation made personally or by telephone at the facility duty officer. Reservations may be made one week in advance as maximum.
7. Tennis courts
Four tennis courts placed next to Chodska dormitories are used by the tennis club members and other UD employees too.
The courts season usually opens in May and closes in September.
8. Jakub training equipment
The trainer is intended for mountaineering and special military climbing skills training. Its 4 walls allow practicing climbing, rappelling, burden heaving, hanging area crossing, balcony climbing, etc.
The equipment is accessible only under climbing instructor’s supervision, no free access.
9. Czech military standard obstacle course
It is placed next to the football field in Chodska grounds.
10. HUP – 1, a pilot students trainer
It is located in the Chodská sports grounds.
11. Military training facility of Kníničky – boat yard
The yard is a part of the training facility of Kníničky on a bank of the Brno water reservoir. It is used for teaching the skills of small vessel steering being a qualification for summer training courses. Also, it is used for recreational purposes in summer.
11. Veronika Military Training Facility
It is placed in the upper areas of the Hruby Jesenik Mountains, right next to Ovcarna hotel, intended primarily for short term courses of students:
- winter courses – skiing essentials, moving on snow and staying outdoor in winter mountains
- winter climbing and survival courses – ice cataract climbing, team procedures under exposed conditions, avalanche risk, bivouac practice, etc.
Its free capacity is available for UD staff recreational purposes, either in winter or in summer.
