A follow-up meeting of the team working on the implementation of “Infrastructure for Research Related Teaching in Mechanical Engineering Fields of Military Technology Degree Programmes” funded by the “Research and Development for Innovations Operational Programme” and aimed at the revitalisation of University of Defence facilities in Sumavska barracks took place on 15 September 2011. The working meeting was presided by project main coordinator Colonel prof. Ing. Bohuslav Přikryl, Ph.D., UD’s vice-rector for development.

The initial part of the meeting evaluated the preparations done for construction documents and for construction work supplier bidding. The following discussion dealt with the contract notice published by the Pardubice Real Estate Infrastructure Acquisition Agency as a part of public contracts. It determines the deadline for bidding companies to place their offers in mid-November 2011. Then, the meeting continued in debates over administrative issues connected to the project implementation. 

Project’s main goal is to reconstruct a facility belonging to the University of Defence key infrastructure for teaching and research in the mechanical engineering fields within Faculty of Military Technology degree programmes. Once revitalised, the old building in Sumavska Street barracks shall offer modernised special teaching room and laboratory pool for selected departments of the University of Defence. The reconstructed facility shall be used for research and education purposes. 

The project shall reconstruct the total of 5,491 square metre of floor for education and research and development elements of the Faculty of Military Technology, build four brand new laboratories: ballistic experimental laboratory, optical measurement laboratory centre, military constructions laboratory and transport machines and equipment operation consumables tribodiagnostics laboratory. The modernised building shall be used for education and research work by all study phases students as well as the teachers and researchers of the dynamically developing faculty. 

The project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund within “Research and Development for Innovations” Operation Programme and by the Czech national budget chapter 307 – Ministry of Defence. 

Project team members include staff for the University of Defence, Real Estate Infrastructure Acquisition Agency and the Ministry of Defence Administration of Property Organisations Management Department, Military Quarters Management Administration and Brno Regional Financial Office.
