 BŘEZINA 2011 Multinational Military Exercise

University of Defence holds a multinational military exercise named Brezina 2011 on 18 to 23 April 2011. The trainees for the exercise shall consist of the students coming for the Faculty of Economics and Management on the Czech University of Defence side and the Officer School of Maribor, Slovenia. In fact the event will take a form of a five-day course to bring NATO member countries’ military school cadet forming to the standards. The Czech and Slovenian exercise shall take place in the University’s of Defence facilities in Brno and n the Brezina military training area in Vyskov.

The goal of the training is to use the European education institutions cooperation framework for getting the trainees acquainted with the issues of preparation and control of some tactical and other actions that occur in contemporary multinational operations, in the form of a short-term course. Also, it is a good opportunity for them to practice the basic tactical actions communicating in English and to improve their leadership abilities focused on meeting the mission goals.

The course two first days shall concentrate on special physical training with the students from both the military schools shall practice swimming in camouflage uniform or climbing on JAKUB trainer. In the following part they shall continue in a triathlon race consisted of boating across Brno dam lake, three-kilometre cycling and two-kilometre running and then multinational team orienteering race around the Brno dam lake.

From Wednesday, the exercise venue moves to the training area of Brezina. As parts of tactical training the students shall go for NATO combat course, pistol shooting and a two-day outdoor workshop that includes a night two-sided exercise. The Slovenian participants shall also learn Czech military equipment, particularly T-72 tank, IFV BMP-2 or Iveco and Dingo light armoured vehicles.
