Studies at the University of Defence Are Interesting

Some five hundreds of secondary school students arrived in the University of Defence on Thursday, 14 January to attend the traditional Visiting Day and learn the opportunities of studying this school. The Faculties of Military Technology and of Economics and Management presented their offered fields of study in three rounds.

The small survey among the prospective applicants for studies at this school revealed that they are mostly tempted by the advantages they cannot find at any other university. Many of them are attracted to military service and the chance to keep them fit. Some admitted that they came to the visiting day on their parents' requests.

Aleš Dobrovodský lives only with his mother who cannot afford his studies. Therefore, the information that our students become military professionals and receive salary caught his attention. There were more motivations though – military service is to his liking, too. He was still unsure about the exact field of study but first wanted to sort all the information and then make things clear for himself.

The same advantages appealed to Martina Balážova from Znojmo. Her interest is in studying at the Faculty of Economics and Management, but had not make her mind concerning a particular field either. She plans to place more applications to various universities leaving the rest on her fate.

Jakub Zoula from Ústí nad Labem was interested in air traffic control field. Being a student of the Secondary vocational school of aircraft and computer technology in Odolena Voda near Prague, he would like to continue his branch. His strongest motivation is his interest in aircraft.

"I have lived in a military family and I find military life interesting" expressed Monika Bielakova the origin of her interest in the studies at the University of Defence. She lives in Brno and her parents work for the University. She wishes to study at the Faculty of Economics and Management but has not made her mind what field is the right one. However, she plans to start working on her physical fitness and polish her English to stand the admission examination.

Apart from the presentations given by profile field department heads of detailed information about the admission procedure, course of studies and military training the audience' interest was attracted by the supporting programme full of action, such as close combat shows of Commandos team and MUSADO MCS club performed by University of Defence students.

In addition the visitors could enjoy the true military goulash that was, as usual, excellent bringing appraisals from some or requests for a second helping from others. We can but wish all University of Defence Visiting Day in Brno attendants reasonable and considerable decision on selecting the university.
