Educational activities 

LTC carries out teaching English as a matter of priority at all faculties in all study programmes, as well as teaching other languages as required by faculties (Arabic, French, German, Russian and Spanish) and Czech for foreigners. The centre also takes part in lifelong learning for professionals working for the defence sector; it conducts teaching in e.g. Senior Officers’ courses, General Staff courses, Military Medical Service courses, and university employees’ courses. The instruction is conducted in accordance with the latest trends of educational theory and methodology of teaching foreign languages. 

In present study it is the direct teaching which prevails, while in combined study distance learning is applied more. Language teaching is supported by information and communication technologies. Students have at their disposal electronic study supports accessible from the study portal of the informational system of UoD in LMS Moodle or Barborka. Their purpose is to enable the students to develop their receptive skills according to STANAG 6001 for levels SLP 1, 2 and 3 (corresponds approximately to CEFR A1-C1). Other means of technology used for language skills development is videoconferencing where students are given the opportunity to communicate with Canadian lecturer. Analogically, teaching with Austrian partners has been launched recently.
