Project Objectives:
Design and development of the systems and subsystems for the complex Airborne and Ground Electronic System (AGES) of the small reconnaissance UAV. AGES will include a navigation system, system of the automatic control of movement in space, flight data measuring system, system for measuring of the external radiation and chemical situation on battlefield, system of the data (including image information) transfer, from the board to the ground NEC environment station.
Expected results of the project:
SSA Group
The result will be the expert workplace of the complex airborne and ground electronic system of a small reconnaissance UAV. The UAV will include autonomous navigation system for data transmission to ground station.
RES Group
The result of the solution will be integrated expert workplace of the airborne and ground navigation and communication system for a small unmanned aerial vehicle. This will include sub-blocks (functional patterns) and HW/SW application navigation and communication system.
RSS Group
The result will be an expert specialized workplace for the measurement of light-technical systems and the development of new modern light sources. These results will serve as the basis for the development of new light technical patterns consisting of light labels using modern light sources. This center will also serve to teach students.
Project Goals for 2011:
SSA Group:
  • Analysis of the possible applications of unmanned aerial base and hence resulting requirements for payload, size, weight, maneuverability, radius of availability, speed and endurance,
  • Creation of the simulation models of the UAV which represent an object of control,
  • Survey of laws regard the development methodology and flight experiments.
RES group
  • Analysis of the possibility of using cognitive radio in aviation,
  • Analysis methods for estimating the navigation solution functional designs based on FPGA.
RSS group
  • Analysis of possible sources in the light of modern aviation,
  • Measuring light characteristics of modern light sources,
  • Functional designs based on modern light sources.

Student research program

Student research program of the department is focused on the implementation of modern technologies in the Czech Air Force systems. Although the program is organized only for one year for MSc and Ph.D. students, department focused this sort of research on long-term development and implementation of particular systems in the avionics. Student research program is evaluated annually in the final reports.
