History of the teaching of aircraft technology
  • Military Technical Academy was created on 15th August 1951. The Aeronautic Faculty contained also departments of Aerodynamics, Structure and strength of aircraft, Theory and structure of aircraft engines, Production and repair of aircraft and engines.
  • Since 1961 exists the Department of aerodynamics, thermomechanics and meteorology and the Department of structure and strength of aircraft.
  • In 1962 transformation of the Aeronautic Faculty took place and change into two departments of Aerodynamics, dynamics of the flight and thermodynamics and the Department of structure and strength of aircraft.
  • Since 1967 exist two departments of Aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, thermodynamics and meteorology and the Department of structure and strength of aircraft on the Faculty of Aeronautics, Air Defense and Communication.
  • Since 1973 exists just one Department of aircraft structure and aircraft engines on the Faculty of Aeronautics and Air Defense.
  • Since 1979 exists the Department of engines, aircraft and airflow.
  • Since 1994 follows the Department of aircraft and engines after changing the name of the school to Military Academy on 1st January 1990.
  • Since 2005 changing the school name to University of Defense on 1st September 2004 and connection of two departments to the one Department of aircraft and rocket technologies.
