STAGE I    FEBRUARY 1, 2010    MORNING                                                            Competition Day 1

The morning race consists of a secondary discipline called “MOVEMENT THROUGH TERRAIN” during which the contestants will accomplish primary disciplines called “DOWNHILL SKIING AND CASUALTY EVACUATION“.

Secondary discipline: “MOVEMENT THROUGH TERRAIN“

Flow of action: The team’s task is to go along a marked track and at the same time accomplish all 4 primary disciplines.

Primary discipline – “DOWNHILL SKIING AND CASUALTY EVACUATION“                                         

Flow of action: The discipline consists of these parts:

 ski cross,

load transport, 

team downhill skiing,

casualty evacuation.

Rating: Based on achieved final times, the teams’ placing 1-20 is set. The teams will achieve points according to the sum of individual placings.

 

STAGE I    FEBRUARY 1, 2010  AFTERNOON                                                        Competition Day 1

Unratable survival activity: “MOVEMENT THROUGH TERRAIN“

Flow of action: Start at 15:00; Teams no. 20, 19, 18….1, in one-minute intervals.

Track: according to the map received at the Start area.

Time limit: before 18:30 when survival activities accomplishment will start in the area of emergency overnight.

In the evening after 18:30 (the time of the start can be shifted by the organizer, if necessary).

Ratable survival activity:   “NIGHT ORIENTEERING“

Flow of action: The teams will move to the Start area. There they will receive an orienteering map containing check points and description. The teams will start after one-minute interval (which is to be used for map reading). The teams will start in one-minute intervals from the highest starting number downwards. The teams will be transported back to the emergency overnight area as soon as the activity is over.

Placing and rating:

If time limit is not exceeded, the criteria for final placing in this discipline are as follows:

1.   final time - in case all check points have been collected

2.   number of collected check points

Rating: If the time limit is exceeded, the team is rated as “unable to accomplish the task“. It is a ratable survival activity with rating of 100-1 point.

Time limit:  90 minutes.

Ratable survival activity: “SURVIVAL SKILLS“

Flow of action and rules: The teams will receive all information right before the start of the discipline.

Rating: It is a ratable survival activity with rating of 100-1 point.

Time limit:  30 minutes (including preparation).

Unratable survival activity: “EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT“

The contestants will spend the night in the open air within the designated area of the “Emergency Overnight“ check point. Shelters and food will be made of their own equipment and supplies. The organiser will provide a central fireplace. Water will be available in a nearby stream. When boiled, distilled, or chemically purified, the water can be used to refill liquids or for cooking.

 

STAGE II        

FEBRUARY 2-FEBRUARY 3, 2010                                                        Competition Days 2 and 3

Primary discipline – “TWO-DAY ENDURANCE TECHNICAL COMPETITION“

Time limit for the day:  12 hours (without time penalties).

Point rating for each competition day:   200 – 1 point.

The teams will move to the Start area on their own following the track (marked in the map) set by the organiser. The distance is nearly 2 km, the landscape profile: flat land.

Track and organization of the Competition Day 2: the track is of circular character. The Start area (located approximately in the middle) is also the Finish area.

Secondary disciplines:

Ratable survival activity – “K2“

Flow of action: after arrival at the check point the team will put on their compulsory equipment and prepare all carried material (apart from skis and ski poles). It is necessary to transport this material to the top of the rock and back down. The discipline starts at the foot of the rock. The team will accomplish two tasks.

Rating:  It is a ratable survival activity with rating of 100 - 1 point.

Time limit:  25 minutes.

Ratable survival activity – “SHERWOOD“

Flow of action:  The contestants will put on their compulsory equipment. The first two team members will get belayed in order to follow a secured way (improvised “via-ferrate”). The third team member will get belayed to the prepared rope. The task is to overcome obstacles of the rope track. All team members start at the same time, at a whistle blow.

Rating:  The sum of times of all team members means the final time of the team. It is a ratable survival activity with rating of 100 - 1 point.

Time limit:  20 minutes.

Ratable survival activity – “FIRING AN ASSAULT RIFLE AND A PISTOL; THROWING THE KNIFE“

Flow of action: The firing will take place at the firing range; throwing the knife will take place outside the firing range. The information concerning handling the guns and throwing knives will be given during the Monday morning technical meeting.

Rating:  It is a ratable survival activity with rating of 1-100 points.

COMPETITION DAY 2 FINISH TIME 

The measured time for the Competition Day 2 ends as soon as the team reaches the finish area. Penalties for possible “failed” secondary disciplines will be added to the finish time.  Once arrived at the survival area the team report necessary replacements of skiing equipment to the leader of the area!!! Then, the contestants will be moved to the second emergency overnight area.

Unratable survival activity “EMERGENCY OVERNIGHT“

 

FEBRUARY 3,2010  

                                                    Instructions – Competition Day 3

Time limit for the day:  12 hours (without time penalties).

Point rating for each competition day:   200 – 1 point.

Start: The Start area is situated immediately by the emergency overnight area. There is going to be a change in the starting order of the teams: team number 20 starts at 7.00, then other teams in one-minute intervals.

Secondary disciplines:

Ratable survival activity – “FIXED POINT"

Flow of action: The task of the team is to establish a fixed point in the snow (on the sloping terrain); then, using this point, to lift a load weight of which is about 50-70 kg.

Rating:  It is a ratable survival activity with rating 100 points. Limit is not set.

Ratable survival activity – “BATTLEFIELD FIRST AID“

Flow of action: The contestants will sort out the casualties according to how urgent their injuries are and determine the order in which the casualties will be treated. Then, they will give the casualties first aid within given time limit. The contestants can use their carried material to treat the casualties.

Rating: This activity will be rated by a specialist medical committee. It is a ratable survival activity with rating 100 - 1 point.

Time limit: 15 minutes.

 Ratable survival activity – “XXX“

Compulsory equipment: all carried material.

Flow of action and rules: Complete information will be handed over to the contestants on the track of Competition Day 3.

Rating: It is a ratable survival activity with rating of 100 - 1 point.

Time limit: Time limit is not set.

 

COMPETITION DAY 3 FINISH TIME

The measured time of the Competition Day 3 ends as soon as the team at full strength at with complete equipment reaches finish area. Possible penalizations gained in secondary disciplines will be added to the total time.

STAGE III       FEBRUARY 4, 2010                                                                                                                Competition Day 4

Primary discipline – "TWO-LAP PARAMILITARY OFF-ROAD RELAY RACE“

First lap – individual paramilitary relay race. Second lap – team paramilitary race.

Flow of action:  The contestants run a three-kilometre circuit; one competition round consists of two circuits. The track is supervised by the referees along the whole length of course. A part of the competition is the paramilitary discipline “dummy grenade throw at the target”.

Rating: final time of the last team member is the final time of the whole team. The rating scale is  200 – 1 point.

Time limit:  180 minutes.

Secondary discipline:

Ratable survival activity – “GREANADE THROW AT TARGET“

Flow of action: There are four vertical round targets of 1.2m in diameter in the marked area. Weight of the rubber grenades is 350g. Targets are placed approximately 15 m from the throwing line. The contestants throw the grenades with their skis on. Each contestant will throw three times during the first as well as the second lap – six throws altogether.

Rating: The “Grenade throw at target“ discipline is rated separately. The ranking depends of the total sum of successful hits. It is a ratable survival activity with the rating of 100 – 1 point.
