It is Thursday 2 February 2012 afternoon in the Jesenik Mountains and all has got quiet. Four days of tough struggle to beat the nature’s traps, the challenges of events and last but not least to push their own limits are a piece of history for the Czech military Winter Survival 2012 participants. After the final battle in a duathlon race the Czech teams occupy the podium.

The University of Defence has got three new professors – colonel Roman Chlíbek in the field of hygiene, preventive medicine and epidemiology, Pavel Boštík in the field of medical microbiology and Rudolf Štětina in the field of toxicology. All of them passed the appointment procedure before University of Defence Scientific Board on 20 April last year and work for the Faculty of Military Health Sciences.

The University of Defence welcomed a distinguished guest on Thursday 5 January 2012. Short after his induction to the office of the India Ambassador to the Czech Republic, His Excellency Shri Venkatesan Ashok arrived for an official visit, escorted by Indian Defence Attaché Colonel Gurpreet Singh.  

The team of “Education for National Security System” project (CZ.1.07/2.2.00/15.0070) under the European Social Fund held another meeting in University’s of Defence premises on 3 September 2012 as a part of the “Education for Competitiveness” operational programme.    

A University of Defence delegation lead by its rector prof. Ing. Rudolf Urban, CSc. paid a visit to the Theresan Military Academy in Wienner Neustadt, Austria (approximately 45 kms Southward of Vienna), on 28 and 29 November 2011. The guests get acquainted with the details of Austrian military education and training system over the time of visit.
